Chicken Wing Recipe (1) - Baked Hoisin Sauce Chicken
I decided to number my chicken wing recipes because there are just so many ways to marinate and cook chicken wings, so I want to keep track of how many chicken wing recipes I tried.
Hoisin sauce is used for as a dipping sauce for Peking ducks. It tastes sweet. When used with honey (as in this recipe), it tasted like teriyaki chicken! Now I don’t have to buy any teriyaki chicken sauce anymore cos I got a hoisin sauce recipe! All thanks to a website called Chinese Food About.
Ingredients:
- 15 chicken wings
- 1 tbsp honey or syrup
- 4 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 3 tbsp warm water
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 garlic cloves, finely minced
- 1 scallion, finely minced
- 1 slice fresh ginger, minced
I tweaked the method a little bit, for more clarity.
Method:
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare marinate in a small bowl: mixture of honey, hoisin sauce, water, salt, pepper, garlic, scallion, and ginger.
2. Pour marinate over the chicken wings and allow to marinate for 15 minutes. Leave some marinate for brushing later.
3. Use a brush to sweep away the pieces of minced ginger, garlic and scallions, then place chicken wings on a baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes, brushing occasionally with marinade.
4. Turn oven to broil and broil chicken wings five more minutes. Turn wings every two minutes to avoid burning. The chicken wings are ready when now more oil drips out of them.
5. To serve: Transfer chicken wings to a serving platter and serve hot or at room temperature.
