The Flying Pancake
Roti Prata is something that I have to introduce to my friends in the Bay Area.
I find the process of the prata man flipping the prata quite intriguing (Notice there are no holes in his dough). The end product looks like a thinly crusted pancake, and it is usually served with curry.
I went back to Prima Taste Restaurant for the second time this week to savour the taste of Singapore cuisine. The prata was excellent.
I also had ice-kachang.
Syrup and evaporated milk is poured onto shaved ice. Below the ice you can find hidden delights like corn, red bean, grass jelly and attap chee (palm seed).
In Singapore, a plain prata costs S$1, and you can get ice-kachang for about S$1.50. But here in the Bay Area, when I need to pay US$2.95 for each serving of prata and ice-kachang, you bet I finished up every bit of prata, curry, ice and red bean.
Bite This!
