Ravioli With Spinach And Ricotta Cheese - Off The Shelf

Ravioli Packaging Image

When the going gets tough, the cook gets going to the packaged food section to look for meals that can be ready in 5 minutes.

Ok ok… how tough can cooking be? I was just lazy. It was just one of those days when watching TV and lazing on the couch was more important than cooking. If I am not careful, I may one day be drawn to join the frozen food cult - a microwaveable meal ready to eat in 2 minutes?

This particular brand of ravioli is something I have eaten several times already. The ravioli is big, but does not taste too starchy. The proportion of spinach and ricotta cheese within each ravioli is just right, without tasting too cheesy.

I just need to drop 4-5 pieces of ravioli to salted boiling water and about 5 minutes, gently stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

To serve, sprinkle some grated parmesan cheese over the ravioli. My ravioli with spinach and ricotta cheese is now done. Now I can continue to watch my TV programs.

I need some of these ready meals, now I’m stuck in bed/sofa and can’t do much cooking. But my freezer is practically empty. Hmm….spinach and ricotta cheese shd be one of those classic ravioli filling. I have seen other fillings eg mushrooms et,c but I have not tried them all.

I’m constantly drawn to that section. Especially all the boxes that promise no-fat, no-cook solutions. So tricky of them…

I have not had those meals since uni days in Melb. Nowdays, just go downstairs and tapow. Laksa, mix rice, char kuey teow, wantan mee, hor fun, nasi lemak, etc.. :-p

Oh no… little Tiga is sick and hungry…

Daddy Forever, I like the Indo Mie brand of instant Mi Goreng. I can eat that plain.

Vasilisa, some of these frozen meals may have preservatives. I haven’t done any research on them but yes, the descriptions can be misleading. What’s labeled as ‘natural’ may not be so.

KeropokMan - You are BAD … VERY BAD. I hope you get posted to the US to work one day, in a city with no Asian/Chinese restaurants. Bwahahahah *evil laughter*

Yich, if ever that happens, just buy mummy a plane ticket, ask her to visit, then come and cook for me lah. Then I deep freeze all the food. haha…
